I read "The Hobbit" for the first time since childhood in 2009. I am an avid Tolkien fan, but had left that book lost in childhood memories for many years. I was struck by the profound messages, at least the way I interpreted them, in "The Hobbit" and was inspired to write the song "Greater Than Gold" about what I saw them to be; innocence and purity of heart triumphing over greed in it's various characters and forms.
